The ending of the
seventh sequence when the audience thinks your story is over. The moment could
be a “bad” ending (In The Matrix, Neo
dies, riddled by the bullets of the Agents.) or a “good” one. (In American Beauty, Lester Burnham finally
beds Angela and has everything he wants.)
The Final Twist throws one
last curveball to the audience. Usually, if your false ending is “bad”, then
your true ending is “good” (In The
Matrix, Neo turns out to be The One and resurrects from the dead.) and if
your false ending is “good”, then your true ending is “bad”. (In American Beauty, Lester realizes Angela
is a virgin and is killed minutes later.)
