End of Second Act (A.K.A. Culmination)

The “All is Lost!” moment, the end of the sixth sequence and the second act. It’s the lowest point in your hero’s journey.

In The Matrix, it’s when Morpheus is captured and Cypher kills almost everyone in the Nebuchadnezzar. In many Romantic Comedies it’s when the hero loses the girl. In Tender Mercies, it’s when Mac Sledge’s daughter dies and he’s tempted to recede to his self-destructive behavior. In The Hangover, it’s when the Wolf Pack gives Chow all their money… only to realize Chow’s been talking about an Africa-American drug dealer named Doug and not their friend.
